SB08 Conference
SB08 MELBOURNE - Student Sessions
The Student session of the SB05 conference in Tokyo called for education and research, which could lead the building industry from the paradigm of green building to one of sustainable building. This was described as a shift from the goals of minimising harm, to these of creating maximum benefit and true symbiosis between built and natural environments. In 2005 the student’s manifesto was elegantly summarised in the formula:
Sustainable Building = Green Building + Symbiosis
Meeting this challenge represents the core theme of the SB08 Melbourne Student Sessions, the objectives of which are two fold:
1) Support Research Development
Help post-graduate and undergraduate research students in the field of sustainable building to get the most out of their research - present their research and problems, network and workshop research approaches with more experienced researchers and educators.
Encourage new and energised thinking about buildings designed to push the concept of sustainability, exploring the issues of systems, symbiosis, diversity and resilience through an international student design competition and exhibition.
Here you can find the delegate names and emails plus their topics so that you can start to link up and discuss with them common research and approaches. We look forward to seeing you all at the conference. To register go to the SB08 website.
The cost for the student conference is NIL, and you can participate if you are not going to SB08, though we only have 100 places and those will be prioritized based on SB08 attendance.
