Faculty of Architecture Building and Planning

Web and Multimedia Services

The Faculty encourages the utilisation and development of multimedia to support teaching and learning in its subjects. These efforts are coordinated by the Assistant Dean (IT) in conjunction with the Faculty's Web and Multimedia Development Manager. The Faculty also has representatives on the University Multimedia Coordinators Forum and the University Teaching & Learning (Multimedia & Educational Technologies) Committee (TaLMET).

The Faculty offers on-line material to support many of its subjects through the University WebRAFT system and the Learning Management System (LMS) and is seeking to further its multimedia offerings to on-line units within subjects and flexible delivery modes. The Faculty is involved in the LMS pilot during 2006.

For further information, contact Tony Zara, Web and Multimedia Development Manager, or Jules Moloney, Assistant Dean (IT).

Faculty Multimedia Lab

The Faculty's multimedia lab is located in the postgraduate computer lab on the first floor of the Old Commerce building. A PC workstation is available for all multimedia development needs. This machine is set up with software including Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash and Illustrator. The PC supports CD and DVD-writing and archiving peripherals, and is attached to an A3 color scanner, an A4 color scanner and a high resolution slide scanner.

Due to the high demand for these facilities, staff must now have a booking to use this lab. To make a booking, send an email to Tony Zara with a preferred timeslot. If any assistance is required during your timeslot, please indicate this and provide details of the level of assistance required.

Digital Cameras

The Faculty has one Canon IXUS 55 5.0 megapixel camera for staff use, and two Canon IXUS 50 5.0 megapixel digital cameras for student use. The cameras contain 128MB SD memory cards (extra cards are available on request). There are also two 8-in-1 multimedia card readers available for use. To borrow a camera, please contact the Faculty Office.

Funds for Multimedia Development

Specialist assistance is offered through Courseware Development Services. Submissions are invited three times a year.

In response to the annual call for projects, the Faculty supports development of specific projects through direct funding and in-kind support provided by personnel hired and infrastructure. For any project development needs, contact Tony Zara, Web and Multimedia Development Manager, or Jules Moloney, Assistant Dean (IT).
