Charging your Student Print Card

You do not need to buy a card as your student card is the print card

To access and print jobs from the printing devices in the ABP building (Room 205), students will first need a vaild student ID or purchase an Unicard, then add credit to them.

The Unicard Machine is located in the Atrium foyer just outside Room 205, on 2nd floor, in the Architecture Building. You can use your student card, or purchase a card at the cost of $2, and must be purchased using a single $2 coin. A combination of $1 coins will not be successful. This $2 is for the outright purchase of the card only and does not include any print credit.

Press the Buy/Finish button on the top of the machine and insert $2. The card will be issued through the slot at knee height on the right hand side of the machine. You  will be asked if you need a receipt or not.

Student Card Unicard

It is advisable to make your card identifiable by either marking the card with a permanent marker, or placing a sticker somewhere on the card. This will enable students to identify their card quickly should they become mixed with others or handed in to lost property. It will also allow faculty staff to distinguish between cards in the case of refunds on several cards at once.

Once the card has been issued by the machine, students can then proceed to add credit to the card.

Adding Credit To A Card

To add credit to the card, insert the card into the unicard loader. The machine will identify the card and display its current credit value on the screen display, and will prompt you to add credit.

Credit can be added to the card using Australian bank notes and $1, $2 coins and $5 and $10 notes. Notes or coins can be inserted into the front/face of the machine.

When credit has been added to the card, the screen display will show the new total value of the card.

When the total amount of credit required has been added, press the BUY/FINISH button. It is essential that you press the BUY/FINISH button in order to complete the transaction
If a receipt is printed it will need to be removed from the slot to complete the transaction. If you do not press the BUY/FINISH button, your transaction remains open and this prevents jobs from being released on the release station.

Refunds Policy

Refunds will only be issued in cases where the printing device has caused the fault.

Refunds for printing costs will only be offered under circumstances wherein the plotter or other printing devices have inadvertently cancelled or failed to print a job (does not apply to jobs sitting in queue), or has caused a print error. This may include:

Refunds will not be issued for print jobs under the following circumstances:

Refunds will not be issued in cash, but placed as credit onto a student’s Print card, and can be claimed between the hours of 9am-5pm from I.T. Staff in room 205.

In some circumstances it may be possible to refund cash, however, this will be evaluated on a case by case basis depending on the reason for requesting a cash refund. In the case of a cash refund being required, you will need to allow 2-3 weeks for processing as these requests are handled by University finance.

Using the Release Station

Before releasing a job to be printed, it is vital students double check to ensure that all measures have been taken to confirm the document will print correctly. This includes checking that the amount being charged for the print job is also correct.

The release station is located in Room 205. When a job is sent to a printer in Room 205 it will first appear on the release station monitor. Jobs on the monitor need to be paid for and released before they will go through to the specified printer.

To release a print job, select it on the screen using the mouse and then click the Print button. You will be prompted to insert  your card. The card reader for the release station is located adjacent to the computer. insert your card through the card reader. If there are sufficient funds on the card, the release station will show the amount that will be subtracted from your card and ask you to confirm that you want to print the selected job(s). Click Yes to proceed. Your job will then be released to the printer.

Should the funds on the card be insufficient, an error message will appear and credit will need to be added to the card.
Multiple jobs can be selected using the Shift or Ctrl keys. They will then be totalled and charged to a students’ card, and released to a printer together.

If a job appears on the monitor with no amount or charge, this means the job has been sent incorrectly (either due to colour selection, roll# selection, etc) and will need to be deleted and sent again to avoid causing a system crash.
