Large Format Scanning

The large format scanner is located in the print room – 205. Navigation of the screens for the large format scanner is accomplished by using it as a touch screen. You can use either your finger or the stylus. There is also a keyboard for inputting text and numerical values.

 

1. Turn the monitor on using the flick switch located on the bottom side of the monitor and plug your USB storage device in to the USB cable.

 

2. Remove the clear plastic cover. Press the power button on the right hand side of the scanner and wait for the led next to the power button to turn green. The green light indicates the machine has warmed up and is ready to scan. The machine can take around half an hour to warm up.

 

3. Adjust the magnetic paper guides on the scanning device according to the size of the paper you are scanning

 

4. On the touch screen monitor press the Scan Tab within this tab there are various settings you can select/change according to the output you require:


 

5. Click File Destination, select F:\. Then click OK in the Change Folder dialogue box  when you have selected the destination folder for your file. This will save the file(s) to your USB device.

 

6. Click File Name and use the keyboard to enter a name for the output file of the job you are scanning. You will need to do this for each document you scan.

 

7. Insert the page you are scanning into the slot on the scanning device face down in the centre of the scanner and ensure it is feeding in straight

 

8. Press the Print Preview button on the monitor and your scanned page will preview on the screen you can then edit the preview according to the output you require

 

9. Press the Save button on the bottom right of the touch screen to complete your scan

 

10. Your page will scan and be saved to your USB device.

Note: The page you are scanning feeds into the scanner slot and comes back out of the slot again towards you. To eject your page, use the form feed button on the right hand side of the scanner.

 

Please don't put anything in front of the slot or pull on the page, or restrict the page from feeding back out automatically.
