Creating PDF Files – CutePDF Writer and AdobePDF
CutePDF Writer allows you to create PDF files from most programs. CutePDF writer appears as a printer and sending a print job to it will result in that job being converted to a PDF file.
1. In the File menu, click Print…

2. In the Print dialogue box, select CutePDF Writer from the Name: drop down list in the Printer section.

3. Click the Properties button to change the settings outlined below.
- Greyscale or Colour output - In the Paper/Quality Tab in the colour pane, check either the colour or black and white check box
- Page Orientation – In the Layout Tab in the orientation pane, check either the portrait or landscape check box
- Multiple Pages Per Sheet – In the Layout Tab in the Pages Per Sheet drop down box, select desired number of sheets to print on each page
When you have finished with these settings, click OK to return to the Print dialogue box.

4. In the Print dialogue box, click OK

5. You will be prompted to choose the directory where you would like your document saved. Navigate to your desired directory. Enter a name for your file in the File name: field. In the Save as type: field, select PDF Files (*.pdf), then click Save.

6. Your document will be saved as a .pdf file in the location you specified in step 5

The Print dialogue box may differ depending on which program you are using and may include program specific settings. You may need to experiment with some of the settings to get an appropriate result.
Microsoft Word – AdobePDF
1. In the File menu click, Print…

2. In the Print dialogue box, select AdobePDF from the Name: drop down list in the Printer section.

3. Press the Properties button beside the name drop down list to change settings outlined below.
4. Click the Paper/Quality Tab in the colour pane, and check either the colour or black and white check box.
5. Click the Layout Tab in the Pages Per Sheet drop down box, and select the desired number of sheets to print on each page. For most jobs you would print one page per sheet.

6. Click the Adobe PDF Settings Tab. In the drop down list next to Default Settings: you can choose different settings which will determine the quality and file size of the PDF you create. In general, the higher the quality of the file, the larger the size of the file. So choosing High Quality Print will give you better quality but a larger file than if you were to choose Smallest filesize.
7. In the drop down list next to Adobe PDF Page Size, choose the page size that matches your document.
8. Once you have configured these settings, click OK to return to the print dialogue box.

9. In the print dialogue box click OK.

10. This will launch the Save PDF File As dialog box. Navigate to the location in which you wish to save your file Enter a name for your file in the File name: field. In the Save as type: field, select PDF Files (*.pdf), then click Save.
Adobe Photoshop – CutePDF Writer
1. In the File menu click Print…

2. In the printer drop down box select Cute PDF Writer
3. Click the Page Setup button to change the settings outlined below and then press OK to confirm the settings:
- Greyscale or Colour output - In the Paper/Quality Tab in the colour pane, check either the colour or black and white check box
- Page Orientation – In the Layout Tab in the orientation pane, check either the portrait or landscape check box
- Multiple Pages Per Sheet – In the Layout Tab in the Pages Per Sheet drop down box, select desired number of sheets to print on each page

4. In the print dialogue box click Print…

5. Another print dialogue box appears ensure that Cute PDF Writer is selected in the select printer pane and click Print

6. Chose a directory/file where you would like your document saved. Give your file a name in the file name field in the Save As dialogue box, and select PDF (*.pdf) from the drop down box save as type then press Save

7. Your document will be saved as a .pdf file in the location in which you decided to save your file in step 6

Adobe Photoshop – AdobePDF
1. In the File menu click Print…

2. In the printer drop down box select AdobePDF

3. Click the Page Setup button to change the settings outlined below:

- Page Orientation – In the Layout Tab in the orientation pane, check either the portrait or landscape check box
- Multiple Pages Per Sheet – In the Layout Tab in the Pages Per Sheet drop down box, select desired number of sheets to print on each page

4. In the Adobe PDF Settings Tab click the browse button beside the Adobe PDF Output Folder selection box and select a directory/file location to where your .pdf file will be saved and click OK

5. In the print dialogue box click Print

6. Another print dialogue box appears ensure that AdobePDF is selected in the select printer pane and click Print

7. Your document will be saved as a .pdf file in the location in which you decided to save your file in step 4
