THEME 2: Innovation (and Barriers to Change) in Urban Transport.
2C. Institutional Enablers of Children’s Independent Mobility'
Chief Investigators
Carolyn Whitzman
Project Description
This project will identify urban design and social interventions that facilitate children's independent mobility within the city and whether these interventions can be replicated. The focus will be on determining the role of planning, and its relationship with successful programs and citizens in achieving cultural and behavioural change toward a society less dependent on private vehicle use. The project will include research on Australian and international 'good practice' in the development and evaluation of interventions, and case study analysis.
