Melbourne @ 5 Million
In December 2008, the Brumby government announced an adjustment to the Melbourne 2030 plan. Melbourne @ 5 million further expands the urban growth boundary. The state government argues it will provide more choice and opportunity for a growing city. But Melbourne’s existing outer suburbs already suffer from inadequate public transport which adversely effects the environment, economic opportunities and social capital. In this public forum, GAMUT provides the opportunity for the public to engage with experts and community leaders in discussing this important and contentious new development in shaping Melbourne’s future.
