Profile
Kate's qualifications include a BA (Hons) majoring in History and Economic History, a Master of Urban Planning, and graduate qualifications in teaching, librarianship, public management and policy, project management, urban development and public relations.
Her work experience includes teaching at secondary and university level and policy development and evaluation within government. Her roles within government have focused on developing and communicating policy and programs for diverse audiences, in fields including educational research, crime prevention, employment, multicultural affairs and urban and regional planning. She recently led the Melbourne Atlas project, which received the 2007 Planning Institute of Australia national award for research, scholarship and teaching.
In 2007 Kate began research towards a PhD in the field of urban transport planning. Her project is intended to examine the relationship between urban form and transport use in large cities, particularly focusing on the role of activity centres and their regional and metropolitan context. Melbourne will be used a case study.
