Postgraduate Coursework Student Profile

Victoria Reeves

What are you studying in the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning?

I'm now doing a Masters of Architecture. This involves a design studio and usually two other subjects each semester. At the moment I am doing a cross cultural theory subject and I am just about to go to Beijing for another of my subjects to do some urban analysis. This will no doubt feed my design and other subjects.

What did you study before commencing your studies at the University of Melbourne , and at which institution?

I did the Bachelor of Architecture here at Melbourne before doing the Masters Program.

What interested you in coming to the University of Melbourne? What attracted you to the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning?

I was initially attracted to the University of Melbourne because of the location.

Whilst studying architecture here we have the opportunity to do subjects from a wide range of disciplines, history, construction, fine art, theory etc. I feel like we get a multi dimensional education.

How are you finding your experience at the University so far? What are the highlights?

The intimate design groups are I think the main advantage at this post graduate level. The studio atmosphere is conducive to the creative process.

What are you planning to do when you have completed your studies at Melbourne?

Work in an office either here or overseas.

What advice do you have for other students thinking of studying in the Faculty?

If you're passionate about architecture, it is a great environment to be in. The framework is there to support every ones individual pursuits.
