What are you studying in the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning?
I am studying the Master of Urban Design. It is a multidisciplinary course which includes part of urban planning, landscape architecture and architecture. My aim is to expand my understanding of urban design theories and sustainable design.
What did you study before commencing your studies at the University of Melbourne, and at which institution?
I have finished a five-year bachelor degree of architecture in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. I got the Bachelor of Architecture in Shenzhen University. And I also had one year work experience.
What interested you in coming to the University of Melbourne? What attracted you to the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning?
The University of Melbourne is well known in China and it has a high recognition for the quality of education. Thus, I considered it is a good choice to study here.
This faculty has good facilities for postgraduate students and I like the many libraries in the University of Melbourne. And this faculty also has many good professors, lecturers and staff.
How are you finding your experience at the University so far? What are the highlights?
It has enriched my life. I can meet people from other country and different culture. I can learn a lot from them. And I have a good time with my classmates who can share happiness with me and help me a lot. The highlights for me are so many. One of them is I can know and learn the difference of eastern and western culture. I find it is very interesting for me.
What are you planning to do when you have completed your studies at Melbourne?
I will probably go back to work in my country. Thus, I hope I can gain some overseas experience during the study time.
What advice do you have for other students thinking of studying in the Faculty?
I think the most important thing is you should try your best to communicate with others. It will enrich you and help you.
