What are you studying in the Faculty of Architecture Building and Planning?

I am studying for a PhD in property and construction. It is concerned with the role of size in a mixed-asset portfolio in downside risk framework.

 

What did you study before commencing your studies at the University of Melbourne, and at which institution?

I completed my undergraduate in Property Management and a Master in Real Estate at the University Technology of Malaysia.

 

What interested you in coming to the University of Melbourne? What attracted you to the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning?

I was attracted to the good reputation of the University of Melbourne, which is one of the best established universities in Australia and in the world. Besides, the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning also offers excellent facilities and its research culture and academic expertise in property and construction.

 

How are you finding your experience at the University so far?  What are the highlights?

It is a great experience. I am enjoying conducting research because of the really encouraging research environment at the university. Additionally, I am impressed with the outstanding support, facilities and services that are provided by the university, particularly the grants for research students to attend conferences, including overseas conferences, and fieldwork data collection.

 

What are you planning to do when you have completed your studies at Melbourne?

I intend to pursue an academic career, which will allow me to enhance my knowledge and research experience.

 

What advice do you have for other students thinking of studying in the Faculty?

The culture shock can make you nervous as a new student. But, the friendly and helpful staff in the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning will help the students to overcome it.
