The Architecture Building and Planning (ABP) faculty and the University of Melbourne has a strong commitment to offering a diverse range of scholarships and prizes for undergraduate and graduate (coursework and research) students.
ABP scholarships and prizes seek to recognise high achieving students and support talented students to overcome the financial barriers that can restrict their academic pursuits.
Under the Melbourne Model, the University is committed to expanding the already generous suite of undergraduate and graduate scholarships to attract outstanding Australian and international students to the University, through:
The Architecture Building and Planning faculty offers a number of scholarships and prizes specific to the habitable environments disciplines, including:
Scholarships:
Kaufman Scholarships - Architecture
Four undergraduate scholarships of $3,000 per student.
These one-off scholarships reward high achieving international students commencing architecture studies in the Faculty.
Yencken Scholarship - Landscape Architecture
This one-off scholarship, valued at $3,000, rewards a high achieving international student commencing studies in the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture.
Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students enrolled in the second year of their degree. More information is available from the Undergraduate Scholarships Office.

Architecture and Urban Design
- Nell Norris Scholarships
Awarded to the best student in each year of the architecture course, based on all-round merit. - Castles, Stephenson and Turner Award
Awarded to the student in the first year of Architecture course who shows qualities of leadership and is most likely to make the greatest contribution to the profession in the future. - DesignInc Prize for Environmentally Sustainable Urban Design
Awarded for best overall achievement in 'Advanced Urban Planning and Design'. The winner's work must reflect a strong commitment to innovative environmentally sustainable design. - Ernest Fooks Memorial Award
Awarded for the best aggregate results for the subjects 'Architectural Design and Practice 4' and 'Design 4'. - Edward and Penelope Billson Prize in Architecture
Awarded to a student who has completed 'Architectural Design 5' in the Architecture program and whose work displays the most promise in architectural design, particularly in regard to aesthetic content. - Elizabeth Bennett Prize for Computer Applications
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated competence and imagination in the use of computer programs to record, evaluate and/or present research or project work. - The RAIA/Bates Smart Graduate Prize
Awarded to an outstanding student from the final year Architecture program based on performance during that year within subjects relating to the areas of design, construction and practice. The prize winner is selected on the basis of their successful balance between design excellence and construction and practice excellence. - The Robert Barber (Ability Building Chemicals) Prize for Achievement in the Study of Architecture
Awarded to the student who achieves the highest weighted average of marks across the final 100 points of the Architecture program. - Michael Kaufman Postgraduate Scholarship
Awarded to the highest achieving international student commencing postgraduate architecture studies in the Faculty. - SJB Architects Design Award in Architecture
Awarded based on academic merit in Master of Architecture (by coursework) studio subjects. The winner is also judged on an understanding of the relationship between design and the practice of architecture. - Dean's Prize for Published Postgraduate Research
In acknowledgement of the contribution made by postgraduate research students to the research culture and performance of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning - The John Grice Research Prize in Architecture
Award for excellence in a completed PhD or Masters thesis by a research postgraduate student in Architecture - Nell Norris Fellowship

Awarded to the student who receives the highest mark in 'Designing the Local Urban Landscape. - The Foundation Graduate Prize in Landscape Architecture
Awarded for the best final design project in 'Designing the Sustainable Landscape. - The Robert Barber (Ability Building Chemicals) Prize for Achievement in the Study of Landscape Architecture

Awarded to the student who obtains the highest aggregate marks in Construction Technology 2A and 2B. - Raymond Frederic Turnbull Prize for Construction and Design
Awarded to an outstanding student in third year construction and design projects with selection based on ability in design development, contract documentation and specification writing. - Hansen Yuncken Prize
Awarded based on academic merit achieved up to and including the third year of Bachelor of Planning and Design (Property and Construction) and performance in the practical year. - VM Romano Foundation Prize in Building and Design
Awarded for the best overall achievement in the third year of the Construction Management stream. - Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Prizes
Awarded for excellence in property and quantity surveying in the third year of the Property and Construction Course. - Australian Institute of Building Prizes

Awarded for best overall achievement in the fourth year of the Bachelor of Urban Planning and Design. - VM Romano Foundation Prize in Urban Planning Design
Awarded for the best overall achievement in the urban planning and design subjects of the Faculty, one of which must be 'Advanced Urban Planning and Design'.
