Computing Rights and Responsibilities
The Faculty provides a help desk facility for students and staff through the Faculty Office.

ABP Information Services Unit staff have a wide knowledge of computer hardware and software. However, some specialised packages can only be supported by the relevant Academic Staff.
Your Rights
As students of Architecture Building & Planning you have the right to:
- use ABP computing resources for academic purposes;
- have access to software and hardware relevant to your course;
- 24 hour access to computer laboratories, Internet and email;
- have access to ABP server disk space;
- have access to IT support through the IT help desk for desktop and network support;
- an environment that facilitates study;
- secure computing service use;
- general IT training as it becomes available.
Responsibilities
It is your responsibility:
- to always follow the instructions given by Staff regarding the use of IT resources;
- to never use any resources you are not authorised to use;
- not to change, remove or adjust in any way the hardware or software provided;
- not to tamper with data that is not your own;
- not to allow unauthorised users to have access to computing resources, especially your password;
- to report to Faculty IT staff any:
- to keep track of the amount of disk space occupied and manage files within your limit;
- not to reserve or exclude others from any resources, including desk space, unless authorised to do so by Faculty IT staff;
- not to block access to resources or obstruct hallways or fire exits;
- not to cause undue noise or disturbances within the facility;
- not to consume food or beverages within the facility or drop rubbish;
Students who fail to meet their responsibilities will have their rights removed at the discretion of Faculty IT staff.
The standard penalty will be the removal of network access for 2 weeks.
Penalties may be appealed to the IT manager.
