The Academic Skills Unit
(formerly known as Language and Learning Skills Unit)
The Academic Skills Unit (LLSU) offers services for students who wish to develop their academic and English language skills. This service aims to help students develop independent learning strategies to maximize their academic performance.
An Academic Skills Adviser works in the Environments and Design Student Centre Mondays to Thursdays during semester.
Students can make an appointment for an individual tutorial by phoning the Student Centre on 8344 6417.
Individual appointments can be made for academic issues such as:
- reading strategies
- writing skills
- time management
- oral presentation skills
- English language concerns (eg. grammar, expression, vocabulary etc.)
The Academic Skills Unit also run workshops and classes aimed at helping students develop their
language and academic skills. Topics include academic writing, critical
thinking, tutorial skills, oral presentations, and exam preparation strategies.
